Yesterday we attended one of Miss E’s friend’s birthday parties and this week we are getting ready to celebrate her first birthday with a party on Saturday. Can you guess what the theme is?!? 😉
Yep, it’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Miss E loves this story and has a little matching caterpillar that she like to hold while we read it. We go to Tiny Talk baby signing classes during the week, and a few months ago I found out that they also do birthday parties. So, for our party Miss E’s Tiny Talk teacher is going to read the story with lots of signs and do lots of action games as well. There will be toys to play with after and of course food and cake! We are trying to include as much food from the book as possible (omitting a lot of the sugary ones, however), and the grandparents are all pitching in and bringing something to the party.
Here’s how the preparation is going so far:
The little food signs were a free printable resource from here and I cut them out and backed them on red card, so these will sit on the food table.
I found these cool green leaf platters(couldn’t see any other way of incorporating a nice green leaf into the party food 🙂 ) at Party Pieces (who unfortunately, I would no longer recommend for buying party items from), but I’m sure they could be found else where.
Here are our party bags, again from Party Pieces and where they really messed up, so we had to reorder stuff from Pirates & Princesses. So far there is a sheet of stickers, a VHC balloon, bubbles and a Woodie Worm(blue or pink depending on who it’s for) in each bag, and they are sat awaiting some edible treats.
We still have play dough to make and colour for the creation station for the older kids so they can draw and create as the toys will be too young for them to play with, my husband’s doing a photo collage of Miss E, and then nearer to the Saturday we will have to buy and prep the remaining food. I cannot believe I am doing this already! Where has a year gone?!
